At Client Care First their team is passionate about going beyond traditional care to help their clients fulfill their personal dreams and aspirations.
Director Meryn Martin said this approach doesn't just enrich their clients' lives; it brings a sense of joy, accomplishment, and lasting memories. "Whether it's a short getaway, like our recent group cruise to Tangalooma on Moreton Island, exploring a new hobby, visiting a meaningful destination, or embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, we make these special moments possible," Meryn said.
"It's something we're truly proud to support."
Founded in 2019, Client Care First is excited to celebrate their sixth anniversary in February 2025. Their core services that are of benefit to a person with a disability include:
■ Accommodation
■ Community nursing
■ Palliative care
■ Community participation
■ Life stage transition assistance
■ Group outings and centre-based activities
■ Supported group travel and experiences
■ Outside school hours care
■ Professional training and development for support workers
"We proudly support people with disabilities and their families across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions," Meryn said.
"At Client Care First we empower our clients to make informed choices and work alongside them to achieve their personal goals. Our mission goes beyond providing exceptional person-centred care; we're dedicated to helping our clients live fulfilling lives, achieve their bucket list goals and create meaningful, lasting experiences."
On International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), Client Care First is hosting a disco and karaoke afternoon for their participants to mark the occasion. "This event celebrates inclusion and diversity. It promotes the idea that everyone, regardless of ability, deserves to enjoy shared experiences, such as music, dancing, and socialising," Meryn said.
"IDPwD is a globally important day to raise awareness, celebrate achievements, and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. "It highlights the importance of breaking down barriers and creating a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can participate fully and equally. Through this day, we support a more inclusive world that values the contributions and rights of people with disabilities."
As Client Care First looks to the future, they remain focused on developing new programs and enriching experiences for the families and children they serve. They have proudly partnered with Canopy SDA to create accessible, independent housing for their clients in Albion Park. The residences come with a variety of thoughtful features, including wheelchair-accessible spaces, advanced assistive technology equipment, electrically operated entry doors, and height-adjustable kitchen benches. They are excited to be welcoming six clients to this residence in February 2025.
Their services are also expanding to include before and after school care, school holiday programs, and movie nights for kids with disabilities. "Our skilled team of specialist support workers is trained to care for children with a wide range of needs, from mild to complex disabilities," Meryn said.
